The College of Health Professions and Sciences is home to nationally recognized academic programs, innovative research and exciting community-outreach programs focused on health and wellness. The College is part of UCF’s new Academic Health Sciences Center, along with the College of Medicine and College of Nursing. There are four departments and schools housed in the College of Health Professions and Sciences: the School of Social Work, the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy and the Department of Health Sciences. Through course work, field experience and interprofessional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for work with diverse populations.

General Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree

Undergraduates enrolled in the College of Health Professions and Sciences must fulfill all University degree requirements, including those for general education, as well as the requirements of the degree program.  The College offers both open-access and limited-access/restricted programs.

Open-Access Programs:

  • Communication Sciences and Disorders (B.A./B.S.) 
  • Health Sciences (B.S.) - Health Promotion Track 

Limited-Access/Restricted Programs:

  • Social Work (B.S.W.)
  • Health Sciences (B.S.) - Pre-Clinical Track 
  • Kinesiology(B.S.) 

Acceptance by or registration at the University does not constitute admission to limited-access or restricted programs. Students pursuing these limited-access/restricted majors will be classified as “Pending” until they satisfy program specific admission requirements. A separate application must be made to the appropriate program.

The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) Office of Undergraduate Affairs assists undergraduate students in understanding college and university requirements and procedures as well as coordinating orientation, registration and graduation certification. Students interested in pursuing limited/restricted access programs are encouraged to meet with advisors in the college to stay on track by taking the appropriate prerequisite requirements. Advisors are available through the CHPS Success Program for students on probation or for those who are having academic difficulty. Questions concerning university and college academic policies should be directed through this office.
